Pair of Japanese Satsuma vases, Meiji (1868-1912), twin handled ovoid form decorated with pheasant on a peony rock with sparrows flying nearby in coloured enamels and applied gilt, painted marks to the base, height 18cm

First vase: Gilt line is worn at the rim and wear to the gilt on top of the handles. Fine crackle glaze throughout. Fine hair crack through the foot rim to one of the vases and a patch of discoloured crackelure.
Second vase: similar discoloured patch. Some gilt missing from the line around the base and the shoulder. The gilt line at the rim is all but gone. No further damage detected.
