Probate & Estate Services

Based in Chester, we are the North West’s leading specialists in the valuation, collection and sale of house contents on behalf of executors, trustees and probate solicitors as a result of family bereavement.  If the property to be cleared is located within a 20-mile radius of Chester – including Liverpool, The Wirral, Cheshire, Warrington and North Wales - we will provide a free assessment and valuation.  Although what we do has been described as an upmarket house clearance service, it is far more than this.

We are not just a general sale auction house.  Our expertise allows us to filter the contents of a property between individual items of value, potentially valuable collections and items more suited for general sale.  Our specialist Fine Art, Jewellery, Antique Furniture, Ceramics and Collectors Auctions ensure that we market all items to an appropriate audience to maximise the opportunity to obtain the best possible prices for our clients.

Our Probate Department provides a range of services to some of the North West's leading legal practices. These flexible services range from simple probate valuations right through to our all-inclusive service that manages the complete probate service from initial valuation, through house clearance, storage, auction sale, disposal (where relevant), and distribution of bequests worldwide.

Our expertise in the valuation of fine art, antiques, jewellery and other items has been built up over many years.  For example, in 1999 our director was responsible for what at the time was the highest UK price ever obtained at auction outside of London for a pair of porcelain vases.  They sold for £560,000.  This type of result is only possible by ensuring items are marketed to an appropriate audience.

Once our valuation and clearance quote has been accepted, we will then arrange to remove all items from a property without delay, minimising the risk of burglary should the property be left unattended.  We will carefully pack all items and remove them for sale. All sale items will then be held free of charge in secure storage prior to auction.  Items of negligible auction value will be removed from the property and disposed of either through a general sale if deemed appropriate or by alternative disposal where there is no perceived auction value.

Please note that we do not undertake house clearance where there are no items suitable for auction.  In this instance we would suggest contacting a local charity organisation who will often provide a free collection and disposal service for all contents.
