The painting appears somewhat neglected, looking dry in appearance with surface dirt throughout. There is one canvas indentation to the right midriff of the figure and some rubbing blemishes along the bottom edge. Stretcher marks, only just visible. The signature, although very difficult to see, is bottom right, and we're sure would be clearer following light cleaning. The picture is unframed. There is no particular provenance. It has been entered on behalf of a deceased estate on Wirral. It had been in the same family for many years and the little girl was apparently feared by the children of the house.
