CATALOGUE AMENDMENT (24.5.22) - Closer inspection suggests this vanity table is French, circa 1910-20 and not as originally catalogued. Coromandel lady's vanity table, edged throughout with boxwood and opening to reveal a bevelled glass mirror to the inside lid and birch lined interior, containing four silver mounted cut glass jars, maker C J F, London 1911, with a pullout drawer beneath, turned bone knobs, and with a side pullout candle slide, raised on tapered square section legs with splayed feet, width at the feet 38.5cm, depth 29cm, height 73cm
More Information
Please note the catalogue amendment (24.5.22) The top has a horizontal split to the veneer. There are surface scratches and some ring marks. On the whole there is an element of fading to this piece. Some small areas of spotting to the mirror.
The silver topped bottles are a later addition and some of the tops have small dents.
There is a replaced length of boxwood beading on the inside of one of the legs. One of the legs is a little loose.
The lower drawer is stiff to pull out. Very minor knocks and scrapes around the feet consistent with normal use.
Please note we have reassessed this piece and now believe it to be possibly French and circa 1910 - 20.
