Fees

George III oak and mahogany inlaid dresser, circa 1800, having a plate rack with three central shelves flanked by cupboard doors with shell inlay and two small spice drawers, over a base fitted with three crossbanded drawers beneath an inlaid frieze, raised on tapered square section legs, width 189cm, height 199cm

More Information

The top part of the plate rack has some lifting veneers and small losses. Both doors on the back have broken or loose escutcheons, one door has some losses to the cock beaded edge. There are no keys. The right hand door is slightly warped. There are some old splits to the facings on the shelves.
The base has a nice colour with some ink marks, ring marks and other signs of age and use.
There are small losses to the veneers at the edge and at the back adjacent to the foot of the plate rack, where there is also a loss of moulding (see images). There is a notch to the underside lip of the top. Some veneer losses to the legs, a slither loss to the front left leg (see image). There are veneer losses to the apron beneath the drawers. Losses to cock beading around the drawers. One bone escutcheon is missing. There is a handle missing and the plate brass handles that are present are probably later additions.
Overall despite the small losses consistent with age and a little neglect, the dresser is in a fair condition and would benefit from small restorations and touching up.
